Courses Offered

The CCH Course satisfies the training and qualification requirements of NC General Statute Article 54B of Chapter 14 for the application to obtain a Concealed Carry Handgun Permit. The course is composed of:

·  8 hour classroom component covering NC firearms laws;

· Laws governing the use of deadly force;

· Other legal issues;

· Types and actions of handguns;

· Firearms safety, security, and storage;

· Firearms maintenance & cleaning;

· Types of ammunition and;

· Principles of marksmanship. 

At the completion of the classroom portion, a written test is administered. 

After the classroom phase, we will meet at the range for a safety brief and then you will complete a course of fire of: 

· 10 rounds at 3 yards;

· 10 rounds at 5 yards and;

· 10 rounds at 7 yards. 

Of the 30 rounds fired, 21 must hit within the target silhouette. 

Once the test and the course of fire are satisfactorily completed, your training certificate will be issued.

NOTE: NO STUDENT FIREARMS / AMMO ARE ALLOWED IN THE CLASSROOM! PLEASE LEAVE THEM PROPERLY SECURED IN YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL ARRIVAL AT THE RANGE. NO LOADED FIREARMS WILL BE TAKEN INTO THE RANGE! If you do not have a handgun for the class please contact me and we can arrange a rental at an additional cost. *One thing to consider – you may want to shop, select and purchase a handgun before taking this class so that you get comfortable with the handgun you intend to carry. I am happy to help / make recommendations.

Cost of the course / training materials: $85.00 

Note – This is a non-shooting class. This is a four-hour course for safe gun handling that is conducted in the classroom only.  Students are taught: 

· NRA’s three rules for safe gun handling; 

· Primary causes of firearm accidents; 

· Firearm parts; 

· How to load and unload certain action types; 

· Ammunition components; 

· Cleaning, care and safe storage of firearms in the home and; 

· The benefits of becoming an active participant in the shooting sports.  

Students will receive the NRA Home Firearm Safety handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, and a course completion certificate.

Cost of the course / training materials: $75.00 (1 child age – to – may attend for free with a parent)

This is an instructor led, objective based course with no minimum / maximum time requirements. In this course, you will learn basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely. At the conclusion of the classroom phase, we will meet at the range where you will prove your competency with an NRA course of fire. In order to satisfactorily complete the course, you will be required to complete Level 1 course of fire but you will have the opportunity to qualify up to Level 3.
